Good afternoon!

We had a very busy Friday morning with our Community Service Day. Students worked together in their house groups to make decorations for the school hallways!

We have been finishing up our units before the exams start. Study guides and textbooks are being sent home today, so students can work on these up to the exam period. Science textbooks can remain at home for the study period, but please have students bring back their social studies textbooks on Monday.

Notices and Reminders:

  • Students have been writing their reports this week, and they will finish writing them next week at school.
  • The habitat model is due next Friday, December 7th
  • We will start rehearsals for presentations at school next week.
  • Our class Christmas party will be on December 18th. A letter is in your child's assignment book, please fill it out and return on Monday.

Good afternoon!

Firstly, I want to say well done to everyone for a fantastic Student Showcase on Friday. The students did very well, and we will have some pizza on Wednesday to celebrate!

Aside from the showcase, we have been busy getting our science projects started. Students are enjoying using Encyclopedia Britannica to research their chosen animals.

Last week, we also practice r-controlled vowels (ar and or) and be verbs in the present and past tense. Students also finished off their narrative writing pieces.

  • November 22nd is our Thanksgiving lunch. Thank you to everyone who returned the attendance slips - if you didn't return it yet, please try to do so ASAP!
  • November 23rd is our Thanksgiving Holiday - don't come to school on this day.
  • We still require student vaccination books, please bring them in ASAP.

Hi everyone,

It's been yet another busy week here at DISK. Grade 1 has been working really hard and improving their focus - I'm really proud of them!

This week in class we continued working on our 'Me on the Map' project in social studies. We also continued working on our narrative writing - the students learned that every story has a problem to be solved and went about writing their own problems into their stories.

We have been practicing a lot of related facts in math class. Our chapter 5 test will be next Thursday. Speaking of tests, students did very well in their science tests this week! Next week we will start our unit on animals & environments.

Finally, a big happy birthday to Leva & Rozaleigh! Roza's mother, Ms. Jacques, asked me to put the birthday party information on this blog, so check the photos for the details!

  • The Lower Elementary Student Showcase is next Friday! Students should dress smartly

Have a great weekend!
