Friday, December 7th

Hi everybody!

We are coming to the end of semester 1! Grade 1 students have been working so hard both independently and together. Thank you for all your help with making the models for the animal project - I'm very grateful for your support!

We are almost through our exams, with only two more to go: Reading & Phonics on Monday, followed by Math on Tuesday. And on Wednesday we will give our presentations and show off our animal models to Mr. Taylor's kindergarten class - so exciting!

Notices and Reminders:

  • As many of you know, I will be getting married this month. Because of this, my final day at school will be on Wednesday, December 12th. Ms. Fugaban will be teaching grade 1 for the remainder of the semester. If you have any questions or concerns while I'm away, you can contact Ms. Fugaban at mfugaban@disk.kh.edu.tw
  • Students drew names for our Secret Santa gift exchange. The gift exchange will happen during our Christmas party on December 18th. Any questions about the Christmas party while I am away can be sent to Ms. Lopez at plopez@disk.kh.edu.tw
  • Any remaining animals models must be submitted on Monday for grading.
  • The DISK Christmas Show will be on December 20th. This is a half day, with students going home directly after the show. The DIS Orchestra from Taipei will be attending - don't miss it!

Have a great weekend and a relaxing festive vacation. See you in the new year!

Good afternoon!

We had a very busy Friday morning with our Community Service Day. Students worked together in their house groups to make decorations for the school hallways!

We have been finishing up our units before the exams start. Study guides and textbooks are being sent home today, so students can work on these up to the exam period. Science textbooks can remain at home for the study period, but please have students bring back their social studies textbooks on Monday.

Notices and Reminders:

  • Students have been writing their reports this week, and they will finish writing them next week at school.
  • The habitat model is due next Friday, December 7th
  • We will start rehearsals for presentations at school next week.
  • Our class Christmas party will be on December 18th. A letter is in your child's assignment book, please fill it out and return on Monday.
  • The DISK Christmas Show is on Thursday, December 20th. This is a half day, with students going home directly after the show.

Have a fantastic weekend!

November 19th, 2018

Good afternoon!

Firstly, I want to say well done to everyone for a fantastic Student Showcase on Friday. The students did very well, and we will have some pizza on Wednesday to celebrate!

Aside from the showcase, we have been busy getting our science projects started. Students are enjoying using Encyclopedia Britannica to research their chosen animals.

Last week, we also practice r-controlled vowels (ar and or) and be verbs in the present and past tense. Students also finished off their narrative writing pieces.

  • November 22nd is our Thanksgiving lunch. Thank you to everyone who returned the attendance slips - if you didn't return it yet, please try to do so ASAP!
  • November 23rd is our Thanksgiving Holiday - don't come to school on this day.
  • We still require student vaccination books, please bring them in ASAP.
