This week we practiced our related facts in math class. The students have a good grasp of this unit!
In social studies, we started a new project, Me on the Map, for our new unit, Looking at Our World. This combines geography with language arts, as students write about their planet, continent, country and local area.
In ELA we learned about using s or es for plural nouns, and also about prepositional phrases. We started developing our ideas for our narrative writing unit. Students also showed great focus during library time and during Daily 5!
And in science, we tended to our garden, continued our plant experiment, and observed how stems carry water through the plant, using celery and food coloring.
Finally, with the end of the month we had Dojo Day. Students were excited to trade in their points at the Dojo Shop.
- Parent-teacher conferences start next week. If you need a reminder of the date and time of your meeting, please email me. When you arrive at school, please sign in at the office before going to the classroom.
- Today I sent home the Parent-Student Handbook. This contains all the new DISK policies and procedures.
- The Lower Elementary Student Showcase is coming up, on November 16th. Students have been practicing well - we will have a good show for you!
- The DISK Thanksgiving Day Lunch is on November 22nd.
